In the US, strategic fiscal tools are debated and approved at the state and federal levels to facilitate the succession of owners in local businesses. The connection between tax benefits and business continuity through employee ownership is the result of an institutional path towards the adoption of EOT/WBO models as a preferred solution for the business succession problem in SMEs.
